Director, Talent Acquisition and Development

In this role as the Director, Talent Acquisition and Development, you will lead the development of York’s talent management strategy to support York University’s current and future talent requirements.  You will oversee the assessment, development, implementation and maintenance of all leadership, management and professional development learning programs, products, services and change initiatives across the University to ensure they support the University’s human resources strategy, and the achievement of the University’s mission, vision and strategic objectives; and in support of the talent management strategy to identify, assess, develop and sustain the workforce skills required now and in the future. You will work collaboratively with leaders across the University to identify specific products and services which support and meet their business needs, and plan and develop strategies to deliver products and services to the community. You will contribute to attracting and retaining the best employees by leading the development, implementation and delivery of leading-edge methods, approaches and best practices to support all aspects of the selection processes. You will be accountable for the development and integration of employment equity, diversity and inclusion policies, procedures and programs. As well as, compliance with all applicable legislation both federal and provincial program requirements. You will work collaboratively as a member of the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) to provide advice and support to the AVP & CHRO, and HR management and the HR community throughout the University. As a member of HRLT, you will advance leading HR programs across the University.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

A Masters degree in Adult Education, Industrial Relations, or Organizational Development (preferred) or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.  You will also have Certification in Mediation, Coaching Leadership; Personality Assessments; or similar professional development or change management programs an asset.   CHRL designation an asset. 

In addition, you will bring 7-10 years of broad HR experience in a large unionized organization.  You will have proven experience in leading talent teams, with increasingly responsible roles.  You will bring demonstrated success in developing and implementing acquisition, learning and organizational development strategies in complex organizations as well as demonstrated experience developing/implementing/managing talent related technology in a large complex organization with multiple and diverse employee groups.   You will bring experience with instructional design, project management, facilitation and training delivery, experience as an internal or external consultant, preferably using a process consultation approach, experience with vendor management and budget development and management as well as experience leading and managing union and non-union staff.
