Associate / Full Professor

Rotman invites applications for a full-time Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) in the field of management, with a specialization in one or more of the following areas, accounting, economics, finance, marketing, organizational behaviour, operations, management, or strategy, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The term of the appointment will be five years. The expected start date of this appointment is May 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be eligible to be appointed as the Academic Director of Rotman Executive Programs.

Working under the general direction of the Dean of the Rotman School of Management, the Academic Director will have oversight of the Executive Programs and will collaborate with, and support, the Executive Director of Executive Programs in the creation of business development strategies, delivery requirements for the programs, and strategic planning and management of the redesign of internal processes to grow the business.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in business administration, management, economics, or a related area with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain innovative and independent research.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the field, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; skillful use of engaging activities that stimulate and challenge the intellectual capacity of faculty and students; and a demonstrated mastery of your subject area. This will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments and the teaching dossier, including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong endorsements by referees.

The successful candidate have experience in developing strategic plans, Leveraging and developing opportunities for continued programming in the online environment, to expand reach of clients beyond executive in-person learning, Working with clients, business development teams and faculty to identify new program opportunities and leading or managing a team.

Evidence of these requirements will be demonstrated by business development experience in building and growing successful executive programs, experience of collaboration across disciplines within business education, and through experience in program design and course development.

We seek candidates with an interest in, and demonstrated ability to oversee program strategy, operations and finance, as well as client and faculty relationships. Working under the general direction of the Dean of the Rotman School of Management, the successful candidate is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, program creation, client development, and faculty relationships of Executive Programs with an emphasis on the creation of new programs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Executive Programs on achieving many of the objectives below and in leveraging the existing expertise within the staff and faculty. More specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide academic leadership and oversight of Executive Programs.
  • Partner with faculty in an effort to test new teaching ideas or research. Ensure collaboration across research centres and faculty activities engaged in Executive Programming.
  • Determine the Faculty team for new Executive Programming initiatives.
  • Build a culture of industry engagement and training across the School to better integrate Executive Programs into the academic activities of the School.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
