Manager, Academic Faculty Governance and Policy

We are currently recruiting for a Manager, Academic Faculty Governance and Policy to work with Office of the Dean, Lassonde School of Engineering for this exciting opportunity. 

Are you a professional with leadership experience in curriculum management and/or governance? Do you have a comprehensive understanding of the Lassonde School of engineering or post-secondary education systems? Do you possess knowledge of governance, curriculum, development, theory and planning, basic knowledge of instructional and educational methods including online learning courses and resources as well as knowledge of office applications and other educational technologies? Do you possess the ability to establish respect with senior leaders and faculty utilizing a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and the ability to build credibility? If so, keep reading!

In this role, you will be a key member of the Vice Dean’s (VD) team, reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, and ensures oversight and smooth day-to-day operations of Lassonde’s Faculty Council and all associated committees, sub-committees groups and taskforces at the School, Department and Program level; and the Vice Dean’s Office functions more broadly. This position provides management, expertise and counsel in the following key areas: (1) Faculty and academic governance; (2) Policy analysis, development and renewal; (3) Academic Systems and project management; (4) Counsel and academic related management support for the Chair of Faculty Council and Vice Dean. In managing and ensuring the maintenance of academic quality for all Lassonde undergraduate and graduate programs, this position will draft, analyze, and advise on possible action regarding academic policy, curriculum, academic and faculty regulations, and will manage the development and implementation of academic, internal School, University and governmental policies, regulations, and procedures on a regular basis. This position supports, communicates and ensures the School’s full and complete compliance with University, Senate, and Faculty, academic policies and procedures.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:

A Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree is strongly preferred; degree focused in public policy, administration, organizational behavior, or curriculum management or other closely related field would be considered an asset. In addition, the successful incumbent will possess a minimum of 5 years related experience in an academic and/or Faculty environment. The successful candidate should have experience in curriculum management and or governance. Experience in a STEM related field an asset. This position will work with faculty members and senior leaders in Lassonde and across the University, requiring a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and the ability to build credibility, persuade and establish a reputation as the 'go to' person for governance and curriculum expertise and knowledge. A comprehensive understanding of the Lassonde School of Engineering, or post-secondary education system is also required in order to work effectively with partners and project teams within the Faculty and more broadly across the University.
