Chief Administrative Officer

TMS School is seeking a strategic and skilled leader to serve as its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), with the successful candidate to ideally be appointed in March/April of 2019, and invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest. The new CAO will work as a partner with the Head of School and Board of Trustees in a thriving and collegial operation that values innovation and excellence. Compensation for this leadership role is highly competitive.

TMS is a leading independent school with exceptional facilities on two campuses in Richmond Hill, Ontario that combines Montessori and International Baccalaureate frameworks to provide students from 18 months to Grade 12 the foundation for a life of goodness and excellence. It offers York Region’s only independent school International Baccalaureate Programme. The TMS mission is to deliver a seamless, internationally-acclaimed, educational experience designed to inspire and challenge students to discover the best of who they are and to achieve their full potential. The Lower School campus offers a flagship Montessori education for over 540 students from 18 months to Grade 6. Reporting to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees, the Chief Administrative Officer provides overall leadership, strategic planning, and senior management direction to the administrative employees of TMS. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CAO leads a portfolio that includes Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Property, and is responsible for a $20 million operating budget and multi-million dollar capital programme. The CAO provides a high level of service, develops and implements progressive strategies, plans, and policies, and effectively represents TMS with service providers and the general public.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with strong professional credentials and a demonstrated knowledge of financial, human resources, and information technology management. With experience in strategic planning and organizational development, and a successful track record of achieving administrative, financial, and client service excellence, the new CAO will be an accomplished and results-focused team builder and leader with superb communication, interpersonal, and management skills. A background in an educational or service-oriented setting or other experience that would make the individual a good fit for the culture of an independent school is preferred.
