Located in Brandon, Manitoba, Assiniboine Community College has been providing exceptional learning experience for over 55 years. Welcoming over 3,200 students last year, Assiniboine is committed to academic excellence and student success. The college offers over 40 unique diploma and certificate programs across a variety of disciplines including culinary arts and hospitality, health and human services, trades and technology, business, and agriculture and environment. Assiniboine is seeking a new Academic Chair, Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA) & Field to Fork Initiatives.

 

Reporting to the Dean, School of Agriculture and Environment, the Chair is a key leadership position within the School of Agriculture and Environment. The Chair provides overall academic and operational leadership for the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, including programming in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Food Processing, Horticultural Production, and Sustainable Food programs. The Chair is accountable for ensuring that the school provides high-quality academic programs and work-integrated learning in various fields of discipline while providing leadership and support to all faculty and students. The Chair is responsible for the programs day-to-day operations including program financial oversight; and working collaboratively with the Dean and others in academic processes such as program review, program development and capital planning.  The Chair will collaborate with the Dean and lead Assiniboine’s Field to Fork initiatives dedicated to strengthening the local food chain through education, research, and outreach. 

 

As the Chair, you will possess relevant education and experience in one of the fields of study. You will have demonstrated excellence in leading diverse teams in a comparable post-secondary environment or industry and have practical and theoretical experience and competence in at least one of the discipline(s) that comprise the supervised programs. You will have a solid understanding of program and curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, student advising, and group facilitation. In addition, the Chair will have experience preparing, monitoring, and managing budgets. The salary range for this position will be $87,302 - $111,435 per annum.
