The Chang School

The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is Canada’s foremost provider of university based adult education, facilitating access to the University’s renowned, professionally relevant courses and programs. Since 1975, we have been delivering leading-edge workplace knowledge that empowers learners to reach their personal and professional goals. We have approximately 70,000 annual enrolments (in 1,500 courses, seminars, and workshops) in Arts; Business; Communication and Design; Community Services; Engineering, Architecture, and Science; Gateway for International Professionals; Programs for 50+; and Spanning the Gaps – Access to Post-Secondary Education. We also offer 81 career-related certificate programs and numerous course series, with 31 certificate programs that can be completed entirely at a distance. Our flexible, accessible programming is available on campus, via distance education, and off-site for employee groups at leading organizations.

This position is based at Ryerson University’s campus in Toronto, Ontario.

The Opportunity
The Manager, Program Support and Logistics will oversee the effective management and coordination of processes to support the delivery of core program areas in The Chang School, and participates as a key member of The Chang School’s program management team. Oversees the deployment, ongoing training and overall development of the Program Support and Logistics team staff, to enable them to effectively support the core program areas in the delivery of courses that meet the strategic priorities and operational goals of The Chang School.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure planning and operations management for workforce and operational planning and budgeting activities
  • Provide leadership to program support and Logistics staff by setting key objectives, managing performance, and providing the necessary coaching, mentoring and feedback on performance.
  • Review and develop operational policies and procedures that support the key strategic objectives of the program areas and logistics related matters
  • Provides leadership and support to Program Coordinators in problem situations, resolving complex Instructor and Academic Coordinator issues or other sensitive issues referred by the program support team.
  • Design an effective communication process to ensure the efficient flow and handling of information and requests between Chairs, Academic Coordinators, other stakeholders and the core program areas.
  • Plan, design and oversee the management of the various exam functions: Chang School’s missed exam, exam contingency and distance education exam processes

Qualifications

  • You are a dynamic and motivated individual that has strong experience in supporting administration, operations, logistics and delivery of courses in the post-secondary environment.
  • You have a proven track record in developing operational policies and procedures resulting in improvements in program delivery and support. You have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration.  
  • You have at least five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience on managing program support and logistics at a post-secondary environment.  You have strong analytical and reasoning skills when reviewing quantitative data to make process improvements. 
  • You have solid oral and written communication skills for report writing and delivering training and presentations. 
  • You have strong interpersonal relationship skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders You have strong leadership and people management, team building supervisor/mentorship skills, preferably in a unionized environment.  You have strong analytical and reasoning skills when reviewing quantitative data to make process improvement decisions. 
  • You have solid oral and written communication skills for report writing and delivering training sessions. You have strong interpersonal relationship skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You have strong organizational and planning skills to project manage program initiative and strategic priorities.
