Located in one of the world’s most vibrant, inclusive and multicultural cities, the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) was established in 1967. The campus is situated on 223 acres of protected greenbelt along the Credit River, 33 kilometres west of the university’s St. George campus in Toronto, and has grown to become the second largest division of the University of Toronto. UTM now includes over 15,000 undergraduate students and 860 graduate students, over 3,500 full- and part-time employees (including 1,245 permanent faculty and staff) as well as over 62,000 alumni. At this time UTM is seeking an experienced financial leader to join as its next Executive Director, Budget, Planning & Finance. 

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and as a member of UTM’s Senior Administration Leadership Team, the Executive Director is responsible for oversight of the effective implementation of all initiatives of the UTM’s Budget, Planning & Finance department including efficient implementation of financial and accounting practices, policies and procedures. As well, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing: compliance with all financial requirements for research grants and contracts; effective implementation of all initiatives of the University’s Internal Audit department; and, any additional financial management tools which further the effective and efficient financial management of the UTM campus. In addition, the Executive Director also has responsibility for Ancillaries & Student Services, Parking & Transportation, and Procurement. 


Candidates will have significant senior management experience, preferably gained from the public sector, with a proven ability to effectively lead high performing teams and manage resources responsibly. They will have strong financial acumen, vision and a commitment to ensuring the long-term best interest of the UTM campus. Individuals will bring proven experience of working effectively within a consultative environment, including leading and motivating a diverse and highly professional team. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, as is a university degree, preferably in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field. A willingness and ability to uphold the University’s commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion is a must.
