POSITION TITLE:  Business Analyst

CLASSIFICATION:  Classification “VII” per Schedule A of the collective agreement

Reporting to the Assistant Director, ITS - Business Solutions and Systems, the Business Analyst will contribute to the effectiveness of the academic units and administrative departments by applying project management processes, system review and configuration methodologies and client support skills for the implementation and on-going support of campus systems / applications.



The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or other University degree in a related technical field as determined by the department
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, including:
    • Project management including the coordination of work of others utilizing recognized project management methodologies
    • Knowledge and experience in business analysis with ability to understand and document business processes within assigned systems / applications through consultation with Clients / end users
    • Detailed knowledge and experience with incident / problem tracking, change management, asset management, and project management utilizing ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) applications
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with Oracle enterprise applications (e.g., Oracle Cloud) including related development tools, BI/Analytics and APIs
  • Basic Knowledge and experience in client-server technology, object-oriented design, directory services, database systems, application development tools, application administration / security, compliance with user accessibility requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in report writing and Microsoft Office 365 application / collaboration tools
  • Knowledge of current IT best practices, technologies, and regulatory/compliance standards such as:
    • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) standard practices
    • Programming documentation/ versioning tools such as GitLab / GitHub
  • Excellent teamwork, organization, multitasking, analytical, problem solving, decision making, customer service and written/oral communication skills (including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools and processes
