Cape Breton University is actively seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as their next Dean, Shannon School of Business.

Reporting to the Vice-President Academic & Provost, the Dean, Shannon School of Business is responsible for the overall leadership of the School and serves as a strategic and collegial leader to faculty, staff and students. As an ambassador and advocate for the School across the University, the Dean enhances student experience and success, attracts and retains an exceptional faculty complement, and plays a central role in supporting the School and the University’s commitment to community, innovation and sustainable growth. The Dean will also play an active role within and beyond the regional community, representing the Shannon School of Business with various constituents including potential students, alumni and donors; corporate and institutional partners and potential partners, provincial and national government bodies; national and international academic and business organizations and associations; and other external groups. The Dean will be accountable for ensuring the Shannon School of Business strategies and services are aligned with the University’s strategic objectives and supportive of the academic mission, and will work in collaborative partnership with academic and administrative leaders across the University. 

As the ideal candidate, you possess a record of successful academic, research, administrative and leadership experience, and a PhD or equivalent terminal degree is preferred but equivalent experience combined with a graduate degree will be considered. As a collegial, and visionary leader, you bring outstanding communication and relationship building skills, and will be an ambassador and advocate for the School across the University. Your values-based approach to leadership demonstrates your commitment to CBU’s social purpose and service to communities. You have a passion for student success and demonstrated strength in mentoring and building collaborative teams. You value relationships within, across, and outside the University and have experience actively building and maintaining partnerships locally and internationally with community, industry, government, and other institutions and researching funding agencies, in support of institutional, business and community goals.
