Reporting to the Vice Provost Academic, the Director, Academic Programs & Policy supports the academic mission and strategic directions of the University by providing strategic advice, issues/project management, and leadership with respect to the quality of academic programs, including quality assurance procedures, aspects of student mobility and academic policy. This position plays a strategic leadership role in the Quality Assurance procedures and processes related to academic programs at York University. This includes ensuring a robust system is in place for the University for both the cyclical review of programs and the approval of new programs and curriculum as set out in the Quality Assurance Framework in the York University Quality Assurance Procedures (YUQAP). The Director will also ensure alignment with the protocols established by the Council of Ontario Universities (COU). The Director, while ensuring compliance with internal and external quality assurance procedures also provides senior leadership to achieve the University's goals to improve program quality in a manner that advances York's reputation, supports student success and supports academic priorities articulated in key institutional planning documents (e.g. Strategic Mandate Agreement, UAP). The Director provides high-level support for the development of new graduate and undergraduate programs and maintenance of academic quality for all academic programs. develops, analyses and advises on courses of action regarding academic policy and supports compliance with University, Faculty and governmental policies. In addition, the Director, Academic Programs & Policy directs and advances institutional and divisional goals related to student mobility through strategic institutional partnerships. This position also provides divisional leadership, strategic advice and operational management in the ideation, development and implementation of pan-University strategies to advance a variety of academic initiatives and academic policy and guidelines.

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

 

Education:

  • University degree (Masters' degree preferred) in a related field (e.g. public policy, public administration, education, business, information studies).

 

Experience:

  • Seven years of experience in senior management in a university environment.
  • Experience with University and Curriculum/Academic governance structures and legislation is essential.
  • Experience with inter-institutional collaboration and project management.
