Associate Vice-President of Strategy, Planning & Risk

George Brown College is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work, and live in the community with each other.

George Brown College is committed to creating and sustaining an equitable and inclusive learning and working environment.  We encourage and actively seek applications from Indigenous, Black, racialized people, visible minorities, 2SLGBTQIA+ persons, all genders, and persons with disabilities.

In direct support of its bold, innovative strategic priorities, George Brown College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as its Associate Vice-President of Strategy, Planning & Risk.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice-President, Institutional Planning, and Chief Financial Officer, and working closely with college senior leadership, the successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, and oversight of the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the college's strategic plans in alignment with the college’s enterprise risk management framework, ensuring that initiatives related to planning and strategy are consistent with best practices and aligned with the college’s mission, vision, and values.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant field – or an equivalent combination of education and experience – and has leadership experience gained in the post-secondary sector or a similarly complex organization. They will bring experience with planning, institutional analysis, and strategic, data-driven decision-making, and demonstrated success working collaboratively with senior leaders, including Boards. Familiarity with institutional planning and enterprise risk management, and their importance to the achievement of organizational objectives, will be critical. To be successful in the role, the AVP must be an outstanding communicator and collaborator, with the ability to engage and build trust with colleagues, students, and college stakeholders, and must be able to successfully manage competing priorities in an exciting but demanding environment. The CRM designation would be considered a strong asset.

Applications are encouraged immediately and should be submitted at https://www.odgersberndtson.com/en/careers/18772. Consideration of candidates will begin in late April and will continue until the position is filled. Ideally, the new AVP will take office in June 2023.
