Ancillary Services provides a wide range of professionally managed campus services and amenities to enhance the student experience and support York University’s mission, vision, and priorities.  With a commitment to sustainability, decolonization, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with internal and external partners to provide exceptional experiences and to enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University's core values. Managing three separate campuses, Ancillary Services is comprised of student housing services, YU-Card operations, parking and transportation services, food and vending, bookstore operations on three campus locations including digital, and various licensing agreements with third parties for advertising, campus space and other revenue streams.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Assistant Vice President of Ancillary Services is accountable for the effective direction and successful delivery of the ancillary operations of York University on the Keele, Glendon & Markham campuses. This role entails developing and implementing strategies for both short- and long-term business plans and capital budgets, and monitors performance of each business unit ensuring targets established through the lens of the university mission and its institutional priorities are achieved. This AVP directs the strategic marketing for ancillary services to address and reflect evolving trends and overall needs of constituents within the university. As a senior leader, the incumbent will proactively identify and develop relationships with relevant external organizations and be the representative of the university to all external parties relating to ancillary operations. Managing a budget of $70 million, the AVP is forward thinking in their approach to finding solutions that best suit and support the university.

York is seeking Assistant Vice President candidates who bring demonstrated experience and creative problem solving to all elements of ancillary services. A leader who encourages positive contribution, cohesive working relationships and innovative thinking will be the successful candidate for this role. As the chosen AVP Ancillary Services, you have a proven track record of managing crucial relationships while creatively addressing operational challenges in a decentralized environment. You bring superior knowledge and expertise in managing internal opportunities for staff, working closely with the senior management team, and offering guidance and support to make university wide decisions efficiently and effectively. You understand the need to be equipped with robust risk management, business continuity and emergency response plans for all departments within the Ancillary Services  and know how to ensure buy-in for critical university wide decisions.

York University recognizes that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships with the territories upon which York University campuses are located that precede the establishment of York University. York University acknowledges its presence on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations. The area known as Tkaronto has been care taken by the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat. It is now home to many First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities. We acknowledge the current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This territory is subject of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to peaceably share and care for the Great Lakes region.
