Osgoode Professional Development (OPD) is a revenue-generating professional executive education enterprise designed to provide both degree and non-degree continuing legal professional education programs to students in the GTA, nationally, and internationally. Its offerings include both full time and part time graduate degree programs, non-degree certificates, seminars and skills workshops, summer school and bridging programs, online courses and webinars, and custom and in-house training for corporations and government. In its degree programs, OPD serves the diverse needs of international graduate students and post-graduate domestic students seeking to specialize by completing a professional Master of Laws.

 

Please Note: This is a full-time contract to May 28, 2025.

 

OPD is expected to generate revenue for Osgoode Hall Law School (OHLS) within a highly competitive environment for continuing legal professional education. OPD has two main departments: (a) Professional Graduate Programs, and (b) Continuing Legal Education (non-degree). Staff and programs are located at both OHLS and 1 Dundas Street West, 26th floor, Toronto. Under the direction of the Director, Faculty & Curriculum Development, the Program Lawyer, Legal Curriculum Design (PL-LCD) engages in project work to create new professional graduate diplomas, degree and non-degree programs and courses. The role designs curriculum to be delivered online, in-person and in hybrid formats. Additionally, the role manages the implementation of projects to develop asynchronous e-courses, working with subject matter experts, e-developers, and clients.

 

The PL-LCD role works together with the (Osgoode Faculty) Academic Director and the Professional-Stream Graduate Studies Committee of Osgoode Faculty Council to ensure academic integrity and high quality for newly developed diploma, degree, or non-degree programs. The PL-LCD role ensures that the method of delivering curriculum is effective, compliant with Osgoode, FGS and OCGS requirements, and brings OPD's academic programs to as many students as is feasible and technologically possible, within the context of a high-quality executive level experience.

 

In this role you will:

  • Manage the development of asynchronous e-modules
  • Identify opportunities for, and support the design and creation of new degree, diploma and non-degree programs
  • Develop learning objectives and content for new diploma, degree and non-degree programs and courses
  • Obtain required approvals for new programs
  • Special projects

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

  • Canadian law degree (an LLB/JD) or the equivalent. Graduate degree or Diploma or Certificate in adult education, online learning, or instructional design is preferred.
  • Inclusive of five (5) years of professional work experience, preferably in a professional development setting. Legal practice, teaching or publishing experience would be strongly preferred.

 

The role currently works from home, until notified otherwise. The role may be required to be in the office occasionally to attend scheduled in-person meetings.
