Job Description

The Senior Accounting Associate supports the Manager, Accounting in various financial functions, including transactional processing, analysis, working papers, reconciliations, audit support and compliance.  They play a crucial role in ensuring the organization’s financial records are accurate, complete and compliant with accounting standards.

The primary areas of focus for this role are capital asset accounting, investment accounting and financial reporting and analysis.

Job Requirements

  • Level four accounting designation program (CPA) and a post-secondary degree or an equivalent level combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years accounting experience, with increasing levels of administrative and operational responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Demonstrated financial abilities, in accounting functions, cash management and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to recommend solutions for complex issues, inquiries and problems.
  • Ability to apply GAAP and PSAB standards.
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Strong communications skills, presentation and interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of client types (vendors, contractors, learners, faculty, support staff, senior management, other professionals).
  • Advanced computer skills using MS Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge or experience with Unit 4 Business Financials an asset.
  • Good VBA skills as applicable to Excel an asset.

Additional Information

This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week for a term from October 2024 until March 2025. This position has been evaluated at MPT-C with a salary range of $76,430 (minimum) to $89,820 (midpoint) to $103,209 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
