The Royal Military College Saint-Jean is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk) Peoples. Established in 1952, the Royal Military College Saint-Jean is a bilingual military-civilian educational institution that is proud of its heritage of producing leaders for the Canadian Armed Forces. Its mission is to develop bilingual leaders imbued with exemplary values that serve Canada with distinction. The Royal Military College Saint-Jean offers college and university programmes. Its role is multifaceted and unique, and it is dedicated to the education and development of leaders through a programme that consists of four components: Academics, Military Leadership, Physical Fitness, and Bilingualism. Located on the site of Fort Saint-Jean, a heritage site that has borne witness to the vast military history of the French and British Regimes as well as that of Canada, the Royal Military College Saint-Jean’s academic wing has approximately 100 faculty, and approximately 345 full-time students on campus.

The Principal is the academic leader of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean, accountable for the operation of all academic activities of the institution, including promoting research, developing the scholarly mission, and defining its academic policies and frameworks. The Principal provides the academic leadership for the development and execution of the strategic concepts, planning, and broad executive management of the College as an institution of academic excellence. The Principal represents the Royal Military College Saint-Jean both nationally and internationally, working to maintain and further promote the Royal Military College Saint-Jean as an accredited university. The Principal is also a senior academic advisor to the Canadian Armed Forces, working closely with its counterpart at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario.

The Principal works within the structure of the Canadian Armed Forces where the command structure supports the generation and operation of resources. As an academic leader of a hybrid military-civilian institution within this command structure, the Principal must navigate the affairs of the institution through the chain of command. The Commandant is the senior military officer, whereas the Principal is the senior academic officer.

Fondé en 1952, le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean est un établissement d’éducation militaire et civile bilingue qui est fier de contribuer à la formation des leaders des Forces armées canadiennes. Sa mission est de former des leaders bilingues imprégnés de valeurs exemplaires aptes à servir le Canada avec distinction. Le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean offre des programmes collégiaux et universitaires. Son rôle est polyvalent et unique car il se consacre à la formation et au perfectionnement des leaders et ce, par l’intermédiaire d’un programme composé de quatre volets, soit le programme scolaire, le leadership militaire, le conditionnement physique et le bilinguisme. Le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean est situé sur le Fort Saint-Jean, un site historique qui a été témoin de la vaste histoire militaire des régimes français et britanniques, et voir même celle du Canada, et l’escadre des études compte plus de 100 membres du corps professoral ainsi qu’environ 345 étudiants à temps plein sur le campus.

La Rectrice ou le Recteur gouverne les études au Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean, et est responsable de promouvoir la recherche, d’établir la mission, les politiques et les cadres relatifs aux études et d’assurer le bon déroulement des activités scolaires de l’établissement. Il assure la direction, l’élaboration et l’exécution des concepts stratégiques, ainsi que la planification et la gestion des cadres du Collège en tant qu’institution d’excellence scolaire. La Rectrice ou le Recteur représente le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean tant au pays qu’à l’étranger, afin de promouvoir et assurer la pérennité du Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean en tant qu’université reconnue. Il fournit aussi des avis en matière d’études supérieures aux Forces armées canadiennes et travaille en étroite collaboration avec son homologue au Collège militaire du Canada à Kingston (Ontario).

La Rectrice ou le Recteur travaille au sein de la structure des Forces armées canadiennes, où la structure de commandement appuie la génération et la gestion des ressources. En tant que personnel cadre d’un établissement militaire et civile hybride au sein de cette structure de commandement, il doit gérer les affaires de l’établissement par l’entremise de la chaîne de commandement. Le commandant est l’officier militaire supérieur, alors que La Rectrice ou le Recteur est l’officier supérieur des études.
